Contraband (2012)
What would you hide to protect your family?
Mark Wahlberg stars in another action thriller film called Contraband where he reportedly showed his best. Along with him is Kate Beckinsale in the 2009 remake film in Iceland from Reykjavik-Rotterdam. The 1 hour 49 minute film is directed by Baltasar Kormakur who happened to portray the role the Wahlberg played during the 2009 film. The movie producers were Tim Bevan, Stephanie Levison, Eric Fellner, Mark Walhberg, and the director himself.
The movie is under Universal Pictures and opened in cinemas last January 13, 2012. Wahlberg played the role of Chris Farraday who used to be an ex-smuggler and lived a peaceful life with his wife Kate portrayed by Kate Beckinsale. However one day, Kate’s brother Andy portrayed by Caleb Landry Jones was involved in a smuggling activity but he dropped the contraband into the ocean when the U.S Customs paid a surprise visit. But Andy’s boss named Tim played by Giovanni Ribisi is furious and threatens to kill Andy’s family including Kate and Chris.
Chris was forced to go back to his old habits and sought the help of his friends Sebastian played by Ben Foster. They thought of making one final run and bring back the money that Tim lost. Chris found himself making use of his old tactics and rusty skills in order to give a run for their lives before the cops and hit men target his wife and their son.
Although Contraband got mixed reviews, there are still viewers who watched the film and in the opening weekend it grossed about $24.3 million according to Rotten Tomatoes.
