Haywire (2011)
They left her no choice
Haywire, which was supposed to be released under the title Knockout, is the story an undercover agent by the name of Mallory Kane. Gina Carano plays the role of Mallory Kane, who freelances for the government and heads of state for jobs that are considered unsanctioned operations. However, she was betrayed when an operation goes askew in Dublin after a successful operation of releasing a Chinese journalist kidnapped in Barcelona. The movie revolves around her struggles after she was abandoned to death by someone in her own organization. Mallory Kane fights her way in making it back to the United States, escaping her assassins and leaving her with no choice but to extract her revenge from those people who had double-crossed her.
The film was directed by Steven Soderbergh and also includes the cast of Channing Tatum, Ewan McGregor, Michael Fassbender, Antonio Banderas, Bill Paxton, Michael Douglas and Michael Angarano.
The movie was produced by both Gregory Jacobs and Ryan Kavanugh. Lem Dobbs wrote the screenplay for the movie and was mostly shot in Dublin, Ireland and New Mexico, USA. The film budget was around $25,000,000 during the time of production. The movie was set for release in the United States on January 12, 2012 after more than 2 years of it being officially announced on September 2009. A trivia for the film is the change of Gina Carano’s voice so that her character would have a deeper voice. This is also Carano’s debut film as the lead protagonist of a film and as a mixed martial arts fighter.
