Joyful Noise (2012)
Dream a whole lot louder.
Queen Latifah along with Dolly Parton, Keke Palmer, Coutrney B. Vance and Francis Jue will rock the theaters this year for Joyful Noise, a musical film written and directed by Todd Graff. The movie opened last January 13, 2012 in cinemas across the county. As reported, the songs in the musical were inspired by Mervyn Warren and his gospel-infused type of music. The film began taping last February 2011 and shot in various places like Atlanta, Newnan, Dallas and others.
The movie’s setting was in a small town called Pacashau, Georgia where the choir director died in a very untimely death. Then Vi Rose Hill played by Queen Latifah who is a single mom stepped up and became the choir director. She was approved by their pastor, Dale because of her traditional Gospel style singing. But Dolly Parton who portrays the role of G.G Sparrow believes that she should be the director since she happened to be a major contributor in the church. The conflict then started amongst 2 strong-willed women. Worst, the pressure surmounts in the church as they reached the finals of the “Joyful Noise” competition however they lost to their rival choir.
The colorful conflict between 2 women when Vi Rose’s son named Walter played by Dexter Darden became friends with Olivia played by Keke Palmer. But this blossoming friendship is opposed by Vi Rose. Soon enough, the church choir traveled to Los Angeles to compete for the finals however conflicts were unsettled. Although the competition is tough, they still won and the Vi Rose along with Olivia became friends.
